About Bharatiya Bhasha Utsav 2024
The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 underscores the significance of preserving and promoting the linguistic heritage of India through multilingualism and mother-tongue-based education. Aligned with this vision, the Bharatiya Bhasha Utsav 2024 will be a week-long celebration that pays homage to the linguistic diversity of our nation while commemorating the birth anniversary of Mahakavi Subramania Bharati on December 11, 2024.
Theme
This yearβs theme, βUnity through Languages,β highlights the unifying power of languages in bridging cultural divides and fostering national pride. The festival is scheduled to run from December 4 to December 11, 2024, featuring a variety of cultural events, competitions, and educational activities designed to achieve the following objectives:
- Preserve Cultural Identity: Highlight the role of languages in safeguarding Indiaβs rich cultural heritage.
- Appreciate Indian Literature: Encourage a deeper understanding of Indian languages and literature, especially among students.
- Promote Multilingualism: Inspire the use of Indian languages in education and research.
- Cultivate Language Enthusiasm: Motivate the next generation to value and explore the richness of Indian languages.
Thematic Days for the Celebration
To make the week engaging and impactful, each day will have a unique theme that reflects different aspects of linguistic and cultural appreciation:
- Day 1 Harmony in Languages and Nature (04.12.2024): Explore the relationship between languages and the natural world through creative writing and eco-literary activities.
- Day 2 Blending Languages and Technology (05.12.2024): Emphasize the power of words in the digital age with activities such as app-based multilingual quizzes and tech-integrated storytelling.
- Day 3 Language and Literature-The Intersection (06.12.2024): Celebrate iconic literary works and authors through poetry recitations, essay competitions, and storytelling sessions.
- Day 4 Language Fair (07.12.2024): Host a vibrant exhibition showcasing regional scripts, dialects, and folk tales, fostering an immersive language experience.
