About the Notification
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), an autonomous organisation under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, through Circular No. Acad-90/2025 dated 26 November 2025, has announced the observance of Bharatiya Bhasha Utsav 2025 in all CBSE-affiliated schools across the country.
The week-long celebration, scheduled from 4 December to 11 December 2025, marks the birth anniversary of Mahakavi Subramania Bharati and serves as a national initiative to promote the linguistic heritage of India. The programme aims to strengthen respect for Indian languages and foster a deeper appreciation of the country’s linguistic diversity.

Theme
The theme for this year’s Utsav, “Many Languages, One Emotion” reflects the shared cultural ethos and unity that bind India’s diverse linguistic traditions. Schools are encouraged to design activities that highlight the emotive and cultural coherence across India’s many languages.
Objectives of Bharatiya Bhasha Utsav 2025
The celebration seeks to achieve the following objectives:
- To enhance students’ understanding and appreciation of Indian languages and literature.
- To promote the spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat by encouraging the learning of an additional Bharatiya Bhasha.
- To strengthen national unity through cultural understanding and linguistic inclusivity.
- To support the national vision of building a multilingual, knowledge-driven society.
A concept note and a list of suggestive activities have been provided in Annexure-1 of the circular to guide the schools.
Day-Wise Themes and Recommended Activities
CBSE has outlined the following day-wise themes for schools to observe during the Utsav:
- Day 1 – 4 December 2025 (Thursday): Language Tree Display and Language Heritage Wall
- Day 2 – 5 December 2025 (Friday): Poetry Across Languages and Music Through Languages
- Day 3 – 6 December 2025 (Saturday): Festivals of Many Tongues and Voice of Language Podcast
- Day 4 – 8 December 2025 (Monday): Unity in Proverbs and Bhasha Mitra Collaboration
- Day 5 – 9 December 2025 (Tuesday): Bhasha Bandhu Letters and Story Chain in Multiple Languages
- Day 6 – 10 December 2025 (Wednesday): Language Exploration Clubs
- Day 7 – 11 December 2025 (Thursday): Interactive Language Fair (Bhasha Mela) and Language Theatre Showcase
Schools may adapt these themes as per their local context while ensuring alignment with the core objectives of the Utsav.
Participation Guidelines
CBSE has advised all affiliated institutions to ensure broad-based participation and inclusivity. Schools are requested to:
- Encourage active involvement of students, teachers, parents, and community members.
- Design activities that reflect the linguistic diversity of their respective regions.
- Maintain cultural sensitivity and inclusivity in all engagements.
- Upload day-wise photographs and videos of the activities conducted during the Utsav on the official link provided.
