Notice
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducted surprise inspections at 29 schools across six regions on December 18 and 19, 2024, as part of its commitment to uphold educational standards. The inspections were carried out in Delhi on December 18 and in Bengaluru (Karnataka), Patna (Bihar), Bilaspur (Chhattisgarh), Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh), and Ahmedabad (Gujarat) on December 19.
A total of 29 teams, comprising a CBSE officer and a principal from an affiliated school, conducted these inspections in a synchronized manner within a limited time frame to ensure the element of surprise and the accuracy of findings.
The primary objective of these inspections was to evaluate compliance with CBSE’s norms and Affiliation Bye-Laws. The inspection teams focused on verifying student enrollment records, infrastructure facilities, and the overall functioning of the schools.Β
Majority of the inspected schools were found to have violated the Board’s Affiliation Bye-Laws by enrolling students beyond their actual attendance records, effectively creating “non-attending” enrolments. Additionally, schools were found to be flouting infrastructural norms of the Board.
CBSE has taken these violations seriously and is in the process of issuing show-cause notices to the schools found in breach of regulations. The Board is also considering legal action against the defaulting institutions.Β
CBSE reaffirms its commitment to maintaining the highest educational standards and ensuring strict compliance with its regulations. These inspections mark a significant step in the Board’s ongoing efforts to ensure transparency, accountability, and adherence to its guidelines by all affiliated schools.Β
