About Indus Towers

A CSR initiative of Indus Towers Ltd, the Indus Towers Scholarship Program is implemented by Shishu Sarothi Centre for Rehabilitation and Training for Multiple Disabilities. Since its inception in 2016, the program has reached out to 824 scholars.

Scholarship Details

The Indus Towers Scholarship Program 2024-25 is dedicated to empowering youth with disabilities from the North-East Region by providing scholarships for relevant and in-demand vocational skills that facilitate sustainable livelihoods. This initiative is designed to support individuals who are eager to engage in vocational and skill-based activities that lead to employment or self-employment opportunities.

By focusing on practical and market-oriented training, the program aims to equip these youth with the necessary skills to achieve economic independence by supporting them to pursue certificate and diploma courses ranging from 3 months to 1 year, with a maximum fee support of Rs. 70,000 each for 70 youth from Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Nagaland.

Who can Apply?

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Domicile: Applicant must be from one of the following North-East states: Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, or Nagaland.
  • Disability: Applicant must have a benchmark disability, i.e., not less than 40%.
  • Age: Applicant must be between 18-35 years old as on 1st June 2024.
  • Education: Applicant must have completed HSLC/Class 10 or a preceding examination with at least 45% or an equivalent CGPA score.
  • Annual Income: Applicant must belong to a BPL (Below Poverty Line) or Low-Income Group, with an annual income not exceeding ₹6 Lakhs.

Eligible Courses

Applicants must be willing to pursue or be currently pursuing full-time Vocational Training & Skill Building Courses, preferably recognized under Sector Skills and by NCVET (National Council for Vocational Education and Training) in the following categories:

  • Administrative, Accounting & Office Skills: (e.g., Secretarial Practice, Tally).
  • Beauty & Cosmetology: (e.g., Beautician, Basic Cosmetology).
  • Hospitality and Tourism: (e.g., Front Office, Food & Beverages, Housekeeping, Catering, Back-Office).
  • Tailoring & Weaving: (e.g., Sewing Technology, Weaving).
  • Electrical & Mechanical: (e.g., Electrician, Mechanical Diesel, Mechanical Electronics, Plumber, Welder).
  • Agriculture & Farming: (e.g., Organic Farming, Horticulture, Sericulture).
  • Computer & Digital Skills: (e.g., DTP, Digital Marketing, Computer Training).
  • Music & Fine Arts.
  • Cooking & Baking.
  • Retail & Sales.
  • Sports & Others.
