About Learning Planet

Since 2006, the Learning Planet Institute has been dedicated to reinventing learning for all ages (lifelong learning) through collective intelligence in order to build sustainable & inclusive learning societies able to rise to the complex challenges we face. 

The Institute’s mission is to explore, research and share new ways of learning and cooperating in order to respond to the needs of the youth and the planet. By encouraging and disseminating a culture, methods and tools for empowerment, it transforms organisations. Ultimately, it leads communities and supports “Learning Planetizens” to take care of themselves, others and the planet. 

Challenge Details

The Learning Planet Institute is driving an intergenerational, global movement to build a new form of planetary university, supported by UNESCO, adapted to transitions across the world. With the Youth Design Challenge, we want YOU to come co-design the future of learning!

The Learning Planet Youth Design Challenge is an annual global initiative encouraging young individuals aged 15-26 to pitch their ideas for innovative learning programmes for their dream university. 

This is your chance to make a real impact on the future of learning!

Participants can pitch programmes on one of the following themes:

  • Engagement: community engagement, inclusion, social justice and peacebuilding.
  • Flourishing: well-being, thriving and socio-emotional development.
  • Sustainability: planetary health and regenerative economy.

Who is it for?

  • Students & youth : Bring your innovative ideas to life.
  • Educators & institutions : Guide young innovators as mentors.
  • Sponsors & partners : Fund and promote groundbreaking youth-led projects.

Benefits

  • First prize 1000 USD, Second prize 500 USD
  • The 12 finalists will receive regular mentorship from a global network of industries (from Education to Investment to Design…), across 2025, with the goal of implementing their programmes
  • Finalists will have the opportunity to pitch their programme at global summits for education and social impact over 2025
