About Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan

Substance use leads to severe social, psychological, and physical issues. To combat this, the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment launched theΒ Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA)Β on 15th August 2020. NMBA coordinates prevention, assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, aftercare, public information dissemination, and community awareness initiatives. Initially targeting 272 vulnerable districts, NMBA has expanded nationwide, reaching over 12.71 crore individuals. Through partnerships, NMBA fosters responsibility, reduces stigma, and promotes acceptance and accountability in substance use prevention.

About the Competition

Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment in collaboration with MyGov is hosting a Painting Challenge and invites budding artists encouraging them to depict the importance of courage, resilience, and peer support in fighting against substance use through the medium of painting.

Theme

The theme of the painting contest isΒ β€œFolk Art and Storytelling”, and participants are encouraged to create artworks inspired by folk tales and legends to promote NMBA principles, promote cultural preservation, celebrate diversity, promote mental well-being, and foster community empowerment.

Evaluation Criteria

  • Entry must be relevant to the theme
  • The entry would be able to stand alone as a clear communication of the prescribed theme
  • Overall visual appeal
  • Quality of the entry

Rewards

The competition will recognize three winners with a cash prize:

  • 1st winner will be rewarded with INR 15,000/-
  • 2nd winner will be rewarded with INR 10,000/-
  • 3rd winner will be rewarded with INR 5,000/-

Terms and Conditions

  • Entry into the competition is open to all Indian citizens.
  • The NMBA Painting Challenge is being organized by the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment through the MyGov platform.
  • Each entry must be accompanied by a brief description of 50-100 words (in either English or Hindi) of the concept behind the entry and how it encapsulates the essence of NMBA.
  • All the entries should be in PDF format.
  • The entries could be hand-drawn sketches, paintings with any medium, and illustrations.
  • The participants must ensure that their MyGov profile is accurate and updated. This includes details such as name, photo, complete postal address, email ID, and phone number. Entries with incomplete profiles will not be considered and will be liable to be rejected.
  • One participant can participate only once. Multiple entries from the same participant will lead to the participant’s disqualification.
  • A committee of experts will decide the winners. The decision of the committee will be final.
  • Competition entries will not be returned. Please, therefore, keep a copy of your competition entries.
  • The winners will be notified through the email address that he/she provides along with his/her submission.
  • Once a winner is declared, he/she will need to revert through email within 3 working days, or else another winner may be chosen.
  • The parties themselves will bear expenses incurred for this purpose.
  • The winnings may be subject to a tax deduction and reporting. It shall be the sole responsibility of the contestant to receive the prize. Participants shall agree to supply any necessary information to affect the same and to fully cooperate in fulfilling all applicable legal requirements. The responsibility to comply with the guidelines and other conditions lies entirely with the participant(s) and the MoSJE shall not be answerable to any dispute raised by a third party.
  • The content must be original and should not violate any provision of the Indian Copyright Act, of 1957. Anyone found infringing on others’ copyright would be disqualified from the competition. The Government of India is not responsible for copyright violations or infringements of intellectual property carried out by the participants.
  • By participating, the participant accepts and agrees to be bound by Terms and Conditions, mentioned above.
