World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit, known by the acronym WAVES, will be a key forum for promoting discussions, collaboration, and innovation in the M&E industry. The event will bring together industry leaders, stakeholders, and innovators to discuss prospects, challenges, promote trade to India, and influence the sector’s future.

Competition Details

ANIMATION FILMMAKERS COMPETITION – “WAVES ORIGINALS  is a nationwide search for India’s storytellers. Open to all levels, both amateurs and professionals, it guides participants through a journey of masterclasses and mentorship, culminating in a final pitch session at WAVES – DELHI in February 2025. Here, finalists present their polished film concepts and pitch them to industry leaders for a chance to win the coveted title and launch their ideas into films.

The Animation Filmmakers Competition, part of the 25 competitions at the WAVES Summit, is set to revolutionize India’s Animation, VFX, Virtual Production, AR, and VR industries. Spanning three stages, this competition features two categories—Amateur/Student and Professional—offering a unique platform for both emerging and established creators to showcase their work on a global stage.

In a groundbreaking initiative, the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (I&B) has partnered with Dancing Atoms to launch the inaugural Animation Filmmakers Competition, the flagship event of the upcoming World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit (WAVES). This marks a historic collaboration, paving the way for a new era in India’s creative industry and heralding the beginning of Create in India Season 1.

The winning projects will get cash prizes. 

Eligibility Criteria

  • Any Indian Citizen is eligible to submit.
  • No age restrictions.  Minors need approvals of parents/guardians.
  • Students, Amateurs and Professionals can all apply.
  • Applications can be submitted as both Individuals, Teams, or as part of a company.

Judging Criteria

The judges will evaluate submissions based on the following key criteria:

  • Original story.
  • Entertaining.
  • Market Appeal.
  • Audience Engagement.
  • Presentation of material.
