About the Notification
The 150th Birth Anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda will be celebrated from November 15, 2024, to November 15, 2025, honoring one of India’s most revered tribal freedom fighters. Known as “Bhagwan” by his followers, Birsa Munda played a pivotal role in leading the Munda Rebellion against British rule and championed the rights of tribal communities. His contributions to India’s freedom struggle and his efforts to preserve tribal identity and culture remain an inspiration for generations.
Suggested Activities for Schools
To mark this historic occasion, schools are encouraged to organize the following activities:
- Special School Assemblies: Dedicated assemblies can be held to commemorate the life and legacy of Birsa Munda. These sessions can also highlight the contributions of Janjatiya (tribal) communities to India’s rich cultural and historical heritage.
- Seminars on Janjatiya Freedom Fighters: Schools can host seminars focusing on the stories of tribal freedom fighters who played a crucial role in resisting colonial oppression and safeguarding their communities.
- Outreach Programs on Tribal Themes: Outreach activities, such as cultural exchanges or awareness drives, can help students learn about the diverse traditions, languages, and customs of Janjatiya communities, fostering greater appreciation and respect.
