About the Competition
Theme: The Intersection of Human Rights and Diverse Aspects of Society: A Legal Perspective on Protecting Children, Women, Indigenous Peoples and The Disabled
The competition is open to all students, providing an opportunity to engage with these vital topics while enhancing their writing and analytical skills. Participants will be tasked with examining the impact of international law on the below-mentioned groups and exploring ways in which these frameworks can be strengthened to promote equity and justice.
In addition to fostering a deeper understanding of international law, this competition aims to encourage creativity and original thought among students. Winning essays will receive recognition and prizes, further motivating participants to contribute their insights on these significant issues.
The competition would focus on themes such as:
- Women & International Law
- Children & International Law
- Environment & International Law
- Indigenous people & International Law
- Disability & International Law

- An E-certificate of participation will be provided to all the participants.
- Participants will be awarded a certificate of participation and a Certificate of merits will be provided to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd along with cash prices of 500, 300, and 100 respectively.
Guidelines concerning the writing structure & formatting of the essay
- Selection of a relevant topic – The participants must choose relevant topics provided in the list or topics which are associated with the given criteria.
- Framing of Title- Participants must provide a research title for their essay and the research should highlight the relevant laws.
- Organised Structure- The essay must follow a structured format with an introduction, a body, and a conclusion and must have a clear language.
- Logical Flow – Participants should ensure that paragraphs transition smoothly from one to another. Each body of the paragraph should relate to the theme and maintain coherence throughout.
- Clarity and Precision -Participants must use clear and concise language. Avoid jargon and overly complex sentences.
- The essay must be written only in English language.
- The use of pictures and graphics are not permitted.
- Any offensive language used in the essay would result in disqualification of the entire essay.
- The essay must contain a word count ranging from 3000 to 3500 words.
- The text font throughout all section of essay except for the title must be Times New Roman, size 12, with 1.5 line spacing. Footnote should be in Times New Roman, size 10, with single spacing. It is mandatory for the participants to cite the authorities. Footnotes should follow the format of ‘20th Edition of the Bluebook’ throughout the essay.
- Original works are encouraged, originality will be checked as per UCG guidelines.
- Participants must adhere to the guidelines; no late submissions are permissible.
Submission Guidelines
- Participants need to submit the essay by attaching the Word document in the Google form only. No other modes of submission are allowed.
- Submission will be open from 16th of October 2024 to 15th of November 2024.
- Result will be declared on 20th of November 2024.
Prizes
- An E-certificate of participation will be provided to all the participants.
- Participants will be awarded a certificate of participation and a Certificate of merits will be provided to 1st, 2nd and 3rd along with a cash prize of ₹500, ₹300 and ₹100 respectively.
- In addition to cash prizes, top 10 essays will receive gift vouchers from Trovana and the best essays will have the opportunity of publication, free of cost.
