About the Competition
The Future Scholar Foundation Short Story Competition is back with a fresh, exciting prompt for October: “The 25th Hour.” This competition invites elementary and middle school students to dive into their imaginations and craft a captivating short story (350 words max) based on this intriguing theme.
Each month, they offer a new prompt designed to inspire creativity, and “The 25th Hour” will challenge writers to think outside the box. What happens during an extra hour in the day? Is it a moment of magic, mystery, or adventure? The possibilities are endless!
How It Works?
- Submission Period: The competition is open until the 28th of each month (11:59 pm), so be sure to submit your story before time runs out!
- Multiple Entries: You are more than welcome to submit multiple stories each month. It’s a great way to get extra practice and increase your chances of winning
- Winners Announced: Results will be released on the 1st of each month at 8:00 am PST.

- 1st Place: $25 Amazon Gift Card + published in our Hall of Fame!
- 2nd Place: $15 Amazon Gift Card + published in our Hall of Fame!
- 3rd Place: $5 Amazon Gift Card + published in our Hall of Fame!

Why Participate?
Participating in the competitions provides the unique opportunity to gain early creative writing practice not avaliable in school. By practicing early, students are able to gain a deep appreciation of the english language and understand its inherent power to facilitate change in the world. Additionally, such practice facilitates great improvement in grammar, style, and structure, all of which will be essential in excelling on the SAT, high school AP classes, and college application essays.
