About Mizoram University

Mizoram University is a central university under the University Grants Commission, Government of India, and was established on 2 July 2001, by the Mizoram University Act of the Parliament of India. The President of India is the official Visitor, and the Governor of Mizoram acts as the Chief Rector as per Mizoram University (Amendment) Bill, 2007.

The university is the fruit of the Mizoram Peace Accord between Mizo National Front and Government of India on 30 June 1986. However, it was not created de novo. The North Eastern Hill University, with its headquarters at Shillong had already run its Mizoram campus since 1978. The Mizoram University Act by the Parliament of India officially established the school on 2 July 2001, incorporating all the facilities of the existing Mizoram campus of NEHU. The jurisdiction of the university, therefore, extends to the whole of Mizoram.

Course Details

The diploma course in Japanese language is curated to enhance practical skills and extend perceptions in today’s bilingual world, aiding students to flourish both personally and socially. The curriculum focuses on the Japanese language, with a particular emphasis on Japanese culture and history.

Students will be provided with numerous opportunities to exercise verbal and written language abilities, as well as a wide range of vocabulary, as a result of the holistic approach to teaching.

Program Outcomes

To be able to interact orally in an effective manner in past, present, and future time frames on a beginner level with supporting details in Japanese.
Familiarize students with the scope and importance of the Japanese language.
Enable students to learn about Japanese grammar skills, the alphabets (Hiragana, Katakana, and Simple Kanji), and to make good vocabulary with the help of phonetics.
Study the various aspects, concepts, and ideas used in everyday life, such as weather conditions, time, expressions of interests and disinterests, introductions, personality descriptions, directions, schedules, etc.
Study how to read, count, and write numbers in Japanese.
