Applications are invited for Chemistry Olympiad Exposure Camp 2023 for School Teachers by Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education-TIFR, Mumbai. The last date of application is October 9, 2023.
Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE) is a National Centre of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai. The broad goals of the Centre are to promote equity and excellence in science and mathematics education from primary school to undergraduate college level. It is India’s nodal center for Olympiad programmes in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Astronomy.
Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education – TIFR, Mumbai in collaboration with Navrachana University, Vadodara will be organizing a Chemistry Olympiad Exposure Camp for Junior college/High school teachers (teaching chemistry from class X to XII) for the Chemistry Olympiad Exposure Camp to be held from December 4 – 7, 2023 at Chemistry Department-School of Science, Navrachana University. Teachers employed in schools/junior college recognized by state or central government education boards are eligible to apply.
The International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) has been a movement for pre-university students. By presenting challenging problems in experimental and theoretical areas, it engages learners in problem solving culture and thus, excites them about the domain of chemistry. The science (chemistry) Olympiad program is equally challenging for the teaching community. For designing unconventional problems and guiding students in engaging with these problems, it requires engagement with the subject at historical, philosophical, practical, and conceptual levels. Such an engagement not only enriches the conceptual understanding of the subject but also its pedagogy.
The forthcoming exposure camp is aimed at sharing their learnings and helps you gain enriched experience through interactions during the camp. The exposure camp will consist of pedagogical sessions related to concepts in chemistry both in the experimental and theoretical areas related to the chemistry Olympiad. The participating teachers will be sent some of the past Olympiad problems set for the Indian programme.
