About Sanjhi Sikhiya

During a Gram Sikhiya Sabha in Govt Primary School, Ballan, community members realized multiple
challenges in the school. No repairs of the boundary wall, playground, or cleanliness in the school. Post the GSS, an education standing committee was formed to ensure quality education to children,
a door-to-door donation drive contributing to school funds. and 2 Youth Club members took the
initiative to take up the maintenance.

As they have worked with hundreds of teachers and young people in the last four years, their initial resolve has only strengthened further. More than 75 people have so far been associated professionally with Sanjhi Sikhiya. Over 500 people have contributed financially to keep them going forward. More than 1,000 people have attended our Sanjha Safar Showcase events. With comprehensive support from all sides, they continue steadfast in their vision of transforming Punjab into a land of Hope, Courage and Possibilities.

Sanjhi Sikhiya’s Stakeholders

“I would like to thank Sanjhi Sikhiya for choosing the Patiala district for their programs. The plans include organising meetings, mobilising, and involving stakeholders in the decision-making process. I see Patiala flourishing through their work.” – Er. Amarjit Singh, District Education Officer (DEO) Patiala

“Through Sanjhi Sikhiya, Panchayats are able to get to know about the schools more closely and in which all the teachers played an important role and SMC also got to know its importance.” – Ms. Aradhana,
CHT, Sauja

“After 2 weeks of the Gram Sikhiya Sabha, the school got three volunteers from the village that help in teaching. Because of them, now I also have enough time to focus on administrative work. I feel like I’m finally teaching and not just managing students!” – Shavinder Kaur, Head Teacher
