Registrations are invited for Online Course on Pedagogy of Social Science for Teachers by TISS. The course will be conducted from July 25, 2024 onwards.
The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), established in 1936, is India’s premier University for applied social science research and education. The Institute is a deemed university and is fully funded by the University Grants Commission (UGC), Government of India.
This 2-credit course is a part of the Reflective Teaching with ICT programme. This course aims at helping teachers to refresh and revisit their understanding of pedagogical content knowledge in social sciences as well as to develop and use their knowledge of ICT to make their work more impactful and dynamic.
The course-structure is eclectic in content, pedagogy and technology. The units focus on exploring the emergence of social sciences, developing resources for social science teaching, and finally delving into some of the key concepts in social sciences. There will be hands-on components to provide experience and affirmation through practical application to the teachers. These resources can be used as prototypes for trying-out in the classrooms and modified based on student feedback.
This course is in a bilingual (English and Hindi) mode.
At the end of this course, the learners will be able to:
Teachers and educators associated with and teaching Social Science to middle, secondary and high school students and having access to at least 3-5 students can undertake this course.
