The Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying is a ministry of the Government of India that is responsible for matters related to fisheries, animal husbandry, and dairying. The ministry came into existence on May 31, 2019, after the formation of the Second Modi ministry. Prior to becoming an independent ministry, the ministry was a department under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare.
Fisheries is a traditional occupation, especially in the coastal regions and fishers, including fishermen and fisherwomen, are the nucleus/epicentre of all activities in the sector. With new schemes and initiatives, Fisheries are gaining popularity as a primary source of income, and the lives of fisherfolks are improving.
The Department of Fisheries, Government of India is organizing a Video Making Competition through the MyGov portal to recognize the work and create awareness amongst the masses about the hardships fishers folks go through to earn their living and fulfil basic daily necessities.
Cash Prizes will be awarded to the winners and a certificate of participation by the Ministry.
