The Ministry of Textiles, Government of India in collaboration with MyGov, India is organizing a Share your Entrepreneurship Development Story Competition. The last date for submission of entries is August 15, 2023.
The Ministry of Textiles is an Indian government national agency responsible for the formulation of policy, planning, development, export promotion, and regulation of the textile industry in India. This includes all-natural, artificial, and cellulosic fibers that go into the making of textiles, clothing, and Handicrafts.
MyGov is a citizen engagement platform launched by the Government of India on July 26, 2014, to promote the active participation of Indian citizens in their country’s governance and development.
To commemorate the 9th Anniversary of National Handloom Day with an aim to encourage & motivate the Start-Ups and Entrepreneurs/agencies of the handloom sector, they may be requested to share their journey/story of Entrepreneurship Development. With this background, they call on all Indian citizens to share their Entrepreneurship Development Stories through their experiences, innovations, and good practices.
To generate awareness about the importance of the handloom industry and its contribution to the socio-economic development of the country, August 7 is celebrated every year as “National Handloom Day”.
August 7 was chosen as the National Handloom Day to commemorate the Swadeshi Movement which was launched on this day in 1905 in the Calcutta Town hall. The first National Handloom Day was inaugurated on August 7, 2015, by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi at the Centenary Hall of Madras University in Chennai.
The activity is open to Indian Nationals only.
After completion of the event, the MyGov team will provide the details of the top 10 participants along with content/story. Amongst these 10 entries, the top 3 Stories will be shared on the official website in the office DC (Handlooms).

The submission will close on August 15, 2023.
Willing Handloom entities can share your story in textual format along with relevant photographs (as per need). The participants may upload a PDF of their Stories for this activity on the MyGoV Platform.
