Submissions are invited for Poem Contest by MyGov India & IMD on Weather and Climate Services for the year 2024. The last date of submission is December 17.
Established in 1875, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) is completing 150 years of service to the nation on 15th January 2025. IMD is among the earliest government departments created specifically for systematic observation, regular reporting and scientific forecasting of weather phenomenon in the Indian subcontinent.
In a way, the evolution of meteorology as a stream of modern physical science owes a lot to the contributions made by scientists and technologists who were associated with IMD during its glorious one hundred and fifty years of journey.
To commemorate our remarkable 150-year journey of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) of the Ministry of Earth Sciences, we proudly announce IMD’s Poem Contest in collaboration with MyGov, providing a creative platform for young minds to celebrate and articulate the India Meteorological Department’s vital contributions.
This initiative encourages participants to explore and express IMD’s pivotal role in weather forecasting, disaster management, and climate awareness through the power of poetry. The contest aims to deepen public understanding of IMD’s mission by fostering creativity and reflection while inspiring innovative expressions that connect with and engage a broader audience.
The contest is open to all Indian citizens.
