Registrations are invited for Online Quiz Competition 2023 on Threatened Birds of Maharashtra by Bombay Natural History Society. The last date of registration is August 10, 2023.
The Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS), founded on 15 September 1883, is one of the largest non-governmental organisations in India engaged in conservation and biodiversity research. It supports many research efforts through grants and publishes the Journal of the Bombay Natural History Society. Many prominent naturalists, including the ornithologists Sálim Ali and S. Dillon Ripley, have been associated with it.
The BNHS logo is the great hornbill, inspired by a great hornbill named William, who lived on the premises of the Society from 1894 until 1920, during the honorary secretaryships of H. M. Phipson until 1906 and W. S. Millard from 1906 to 1920. The logo was created in 1933, the silver-jubilee year of the Society’s founding.
The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF& CC), Government of India, had selected the Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS) as an ENVIS (Environmental Information System) Resource partner on Avian Ecology. Since its inception the focus of ENVIS has been on providing information to decision makers, policy planners, scientists and engineers, research workers, etc. all over the country.
As avian ecology is a broad-ranging, multi-disciplinary subject, a comprehensive information system on it would necessarily involve effective participation of the concerned institutions/ organizations and all interested individuals in the country that are actively engaged in work relating to different subject areas of avian ecology or environment. ENVIS has, therefore, developed itself with a network of such participating institutions/organizations for the programme to be meaningful.
Environmental Information, Awareness, Capacity Building and Livelihood Programme (EIACP) Programme Centre (PC), Resource Partner (RP) on Avian Ecology at the Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS-EIACP) is organizing an online quiz competition. The competition is open to all age groups.
Kindly note that certificates will not be provided for this competition.
