MyGov is a citizen engagement platform launched by the Government of India on July 26, 2014 to promote the active participation of Indian citizens in their country’s governance and development. It is aimed at creating a common platform for Indian citizens to “crowdsource governance ideas from citizens”.

Its users discuss and contribute to various government projects and plans. It also allows users to upload documents in various formats. The website is hosted and managed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC). Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that the aim was to reduce the long gap developed between the electorate and the Executive after being elected.

In the first week of August 2014, MyGov received 100,000 registered users, barely two weeks after its initiation. Google became the first multinational firm to collaborate with MyGov. Shortly before his first address to the nation through All India Radio, it was announced that ideas and questions for the Prime Minister submitted to MyGov may be responded to in subsequent radio addresses.

The website also has an associated mobile app.

Being established in 1875, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) is completing 150 years of service to the nation in 2024-2025. IMD is among the earliest government departments created specifically for systematic observation, regular reporting, and scientific forecasting of weather phenomena in the Indian subcontinent. In a way evolution of Meteorology as a stream of modern physical science, owes a lot to the contribution made by scientists and technologists who were associated with IMD during its glorious hundred fifty years of journey.

To commemorate the milestone of 150 years, IMD is planning a yearlong celebration starting January 2024. During this period, IMD will launch a series of events, exhibitions, and international scientific seminars besides interactive sessions with students to encourage them to explore meteorology and atmospheric sciences careers.

To aptly describe this important milestone, IMD, in collaboration with MyGov, is hosting a Logo Design Contest for the 150th year of IMD. You are invited to show your creative brilliance in designing a vibrant logo commemorating this milestone.
