Registrations are invited for International Earth Science Olympiad 2024 for Students in Classes 9-12 by Ministry of Earth Sciences and Geological Society of India. The last date of registration is January 10, 2024.
Geological Society of India has been organizing Indian National Earth Science Olympiad (INESO) and International Earth Science Olympiads (IESO) with entire support of Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), Govt of India for school students. Indian team of students has been participating in IESO since 2007. Seventh IESO at Mysuru in 2013 was hosted in India.
The main purpose of the IESO is to create awareness about the origin of the universe, evolution of the life on Earth and to encourage students and public to take interest in Earth Sciences. One of the IESO’s competitions is ‘International Team Field Investigation (ITFI), wherein each team comprise of students from different countries that is absolutely in line with Vasudhaiva Kutambakam – ‘The Earth in indeed a Family’ to promote friendly relations among young students from different countries and international cooperation in the exchange of ideas for understanding the Earth System Process towards jointly resolving global challenges.
An entrance test has been scheduled on Saturday 27th January, 2024 for 90 minutes at 10:30 am in English and comprise objective type of questions spanning Geology, Geophysics Meteorology, Oceanography, Terrestrial Astronomy and Environmental Science.
