Creators of Justice Literary Awards by International Human Rights Art Movement [Total Prizes of Rs. 25k]: Submit Poems/Essays/Short Stories by Sep 30!

Submissions are invited for the Creators of Justice Literary Awards by International Human Rights Art Movement. Submit by Sep 30!

The International Human Rights Art Festival, founded at Dixon Place Theater (NYC) in March 2017, and incorporated as a 501c3 non-profit in August 2018, has presented a growing body of work.

Coming out of Covid, and after the “Omicron” Covid experience in 2021, they truncated their vent to three evenings at the Tank Theater, in midtown Manhattan. This slimmed-down iteration showcased the uncensored work of more than 50 artists in 15 performances, in theatre, dance, improv and performance art. They were thrilled to have very strong audiences all three evenings on the main stage, and look forward to returning for our full-week festival this December 2023!

The Creators of Justice Literary Award is an annual, international contest with a submission window open from June 1-September 30, and winners announced by November 15.

Writers may submit one poem, one essay (up to 2,500 words) and/or one short story (up to 2,500 words).

Please include your name as you would like it to appear, country of residence and brief biography.

There will be a separate youth category for writers 18 and under (School Students can participate in this category).

This Creators of Justice Literary Award features works which highlight the struggle for human rights and social justice the world over. These may be imagined in any manner in which the writer sees fit, however, it must be based on their signature values.  They do not publish work which is based on anger or stems from an “us vs them” mentality.

We feel strongly that all human conflict is representative of human spiritual immaturity — and no group of people, ethnicity or religion are immune from this energy.

There is no entry fee for participation.

Submit all work to hello[at]ihraf[dot]org with the subject line: “Creators of Justice Literary Award” and the submission type (i.e. “Poetry,” “Short Story” or “Essay.”

There are three monetary prizes in each category: Poetry, Short Story and Essay.  Each writer may make one submission in each category (a total of 3 submissions per writer). Awards are as follows:

Honorable Mention: Up to five writers in each category will have their work published.
