Submissions are invited for Creative Writing Competition 2024 for Children by Bright Light Education. The last date of submission is February 28, 2024.

This year, they are celebrating the wonderful work of Joseph Coelho.
Joseph Coelho is the Children’s Laureate from 2022 – 2024. He is an award-winning children’s author, performance poet and playwright based in London. In 2014 Coelho published Werewolf Club Rules, a poetry anthology which was awarded the Centre for Literacy in Primary Poetry Award. Coelho’s second independent collection, Overheard in a Tower Block, was shortlisted for the Centre for Literacy in Primary Poetry Award in 2018. He has also written over 20 books for young people.
This year, your challenge is to follow Joseph’s guidance and write a MORERAPS poem! Choose a topic to write about. Maybe the weather, a hobby, freedom, nature, the sky, the moon, trees, your hamster, spaghetti bolognese – the list is endless! Then, write each line based on a poetic device, as described by Joseph himself.

Present your poem beautifully on an A4 piece of paper – add illustrations if you can!
The competition is open to all children from ages 7-13 (Years 3-8).
