Essay Competition open to college and university students, with the chance to win the Dr. Iswari Prasad Upadhyaya Award and interact with experts. Submit by Oct 10!
The Aligarh Muslim University Old Students’ Association (AMUOSA) Kerala Chapter is thrilled to announce an essay competition open to all college and university students across Kerala. This initiative encourages students to critically engage with the subject of politics and religion in today’s India, an increasingly relevant and urgent topic.
The competition centers on the theme, “Politicising Religion and the Contemporary Indian Scenario,” asking participants to reflect on how religious issues are interwoven with political strategies in India today. As religion continues to influence public life, the misuse or politicization of religion can have profound impacts on social harmony, governance, and democracy.
Participants are invited to present thoughtful and well-researched essays that examine the historical, cultural, and political factors at play in this ongoing issue. Essays may focus on areas such as the role of religion in political campaigns, communal tensions, or how religious identity is manipulated to serve political agendas.
Participants whose essays are selected will be invited to an online interaction on the same topic, where they can engage in discussions with their peers and experts. This event will provide a platform to deepen the conversation, allowing for exchange of ideas and critical insights.
The first-place winner will be honored with the Dr. Iswari Prasad Upadhyaya Award, in recognition of their outstanding contribution. The award is named after Dr. Iswari Prasad Upadhyaya, the first graduate of Aligarh Muslim University, as a tribute to his intellectual legacy.
Interested participants can register through this link.
The deadline for submission is October 10, 2024.
