The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is proud to join the nationwide celebration of P.N. Panicker National Reading Day on 19th June 2025, marking the beginning of the 30th Reading and Digital Reading Month, which will run until 18th July 2025.
This annual observance honours the enduring legacy of Shri P.N. Panicker, the father of the Library Movement in Kerala and a tireless advocate for literacy and reading. Aligned with the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the month-long celebration seeks to nurture reading habits among students from an early age — promoting cognitive development, language proficiency, and critical thinking.
All CBSE-affiliated schools are encouraged to organise a variety of engaging activities that make reading enjoyable and accessible to learners of all age groups. The suggested initiatives aim to integrate traditional and digital reading experiences while tapping into students’ creative and intellectual potential.
These activities not only encourage students to embrace reading but also enable them to become thoughtful, responsible, and empowered citizens.
Schools are requested to plan and implement these activities in a flexible and innovative manner, ensuring maximum student involvement. For schools reopening in July, the Reading Day Pledge and activities may be held during the first week of reopening.
Complete guidelines and additional resources can be accessed on the official website of the P.N. Panicker Foundation.
