BCM Senior Secondary School, Chandigarh.

I applied to this school by taking the entrance exam.

There are a great deal of good things about the faculty of my school. Van services are provided. Books racks are made for students up to grade 8 so that they can keep their books in the school to reduce their school bag weight. Edu-coms are installed in every class for a better experience.

School authorities even give students a chance to buy newspapers to enhance their vocabulary and knowledge which will further be led by educational trips. The main faculty is of medical room which really helps children when they are feeling sick. Simultaneously to academics, co-curriculum activities are also a point of focus and due to this focus, BCM School even ranked 1 in the northern region in co-curriculum activities.

There are some of the bad things about the faculty of my school. Girls’ restrooms are only cleaned that is; after recess, and before recess the restrooms are not cleaned properly leading to the emergence of foul smell and difficulty in using them. There are only 4 fans in each class, even though classrooms are quite airy but still in some aspects need for more fans is felt due to its size. It really makes students difficult to study in such hot weather. Even though edu-coms are installed in every class rooms but few of them don’t even work.

The infrastructure of my school at quite extant is really appreciable. It’s eco-friendly infrastructure. There are a total of 4 gates and at gate no. 1 we have a vertical bottle garden. It also has a separate park for junior students to learn about different plants and trees and to play. Solar panels and rainwater harvesting systems are also installed.

There are lacking points in a few fields and it’s really normal. A few lacking points in infrastructure are it’s not properly built and well painted. There is still a need for proper ventilation in some aspects. There is a need for renovation. Bottle garden can be increased.

The teacher-to-student ratio is 1 to 43 sometimes 42 or even 40 and 41. Teachers are very friendly and even experts in their subjects. They understand students and explain the topics very well. There are always efforts made by teachers to get along with the students.

The teachers really try hard to make the students a shining star and are also friendly but few teachers are very strict and they even slap the students hard. I still remember when I was in class 5, my science teacher slapped me twice without noticing my mistakes. The girl sitting behind me was talking to my friend but she slapped me. I felt myself cry. It was an unforgettable experience.

Great initiatives offered in our school are emerging of various clubs headed by 1 or more teachers to provide a platform for students to shine brightly. A few such examples are a Business Club, Eco Club, Quiz Club, Science Club, Innovation Club, Ramanujan Club, and many more. Extra time in the morning and the evening is devoted to the student’s passionated for sports like football, basketball, cricket, baseball, badminton, table tennis, volleyball, chess kabaddi, athletics, etc.

There are a few things I would have liked to change about my school if I could. Firstly fans of the school and would have liked to add 2 more fans in each room. I would have loved to change edu-coms. I would have loved to change the ideas regarding educational trips abroad as it’s very expensive and not convenient for the majority of students to attend this trip and would create a sense of inferiority in the students’ minds.

9 out of 10.
