MyGov is a citizen engagement platform launched by the Government of India on July 26, 2014 to promote the active participation of Indian citizens in their country’s governance and development. It is aimed at creating a common platform for Indian citizens to “crowdsource governance ideas from citizens”.
Marking a new era in regional transit, the Hon’ble Prime Minister, recently, inaugurated the country’s first Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) and flagged off India’s first Namo Bharat train. National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) in collaboration with MyGov invites citizens to the Mascot Naming Contest.
RRTS is a new, dedicated, rail-based, high-speed, high-capacity, comfortable commuter service connecting regional nodes in NCR. The first RRTS corridor connects key nodes of Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut and its 17-km Priority Section between Sahibabad to Duhai is now operational. This complete corridor will be operational by June 2025. The future RRTS corridors will seamlessly connect many more key nodes of NCR spread across the states of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Rajasthan.
NCRTC – a joint venture company of Govt of India and the States of Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, and U.P. under the administrative control of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), is mandated to implement the RRTS project across NCR, ensuring balanced and sustainable urban development through better connectivity and access. This is in line with the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s visionary GatiShakti National Master Plan.
With RRTS, NCRTC will provide the people of the National Capital Region (NCR) with a new-age mobility solution for a fast, safe, comfortable, reliable, and efficient regional commute. With India’s first RRTS, NCRTC aims to revolutionize how people adopt public transit systems, transition towards zero-emission travel, bring people & places closer, and improve the quality of life.
A mascot is a character that symbolically represents a brand, adds a unique touch to the brand’s visibility, and helps create a distinctive brand identification and commuter connection. The mascot is also used as a device to convey crucial messaging to help commuters know about a system or service. The mascot developed for India’s first RRTS is inspired by the aerodynamic shape of the new-age Made-in-India Namo Bharat trains.
This mascot provides a humanized face for the emerging and eco-friendly technologies in the domain of transport infrastructure being brought in with the RRTS project, which is rapidly changing our lives in many ways. He/she is a happy, friendly & gentle creature that is always smiling, speeds on roller skates, and has ears that also act as antennas that can beam & receive messages across places & platforms. This mascot represents the aspirations of the youth and the journey of enabling them to realize their potential and dreams.
The mascot should also have a unique name which will help establish a quick connection with the commuters, and enhance visibility for the country’s first RRTS and brand ‘Namo Bharat’. So, put on your creative cap, showcase your creativity, and have an opportunity to provide a name to the mascot of India’s first RRTS operating Namo Bharat trains!
