National Education Policy – 2020 (NEP-2020) has laid emphasis on the teachers’ training and empowerment through Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programme brought out in its clause no. 5.15 and 5.16. In compliance to the directives of NEP 2020, CBSE has adopted and adapted the same in its affiliation bye-laws.
According to the new guidelines, every school should ensure that all the teachers and Principals must participate in at least 50 hours of Continuous Professional Development (CPD). Out of these 50 hours, CPD of 25 hours shall be completed by them in the programmes organized by the Board or by the State Govt. or Govt. Regional Teachers Training Institutions as per their need and inclination.
School heads shall organize remaining 25 hours of CPD for teachers in collaboration with School Complexes of CBSE or in house programmes and shall continuously improve their own leadership and management skills so that they too may share best practices with each other. Read about this here.
The Training Unit of CBSE has outlined a detailed plan of action which aims to engage with all the CBSE affiliated schools spread across many countries for training activities and to keep them all updated with the latest initiatives and achievements of the CBSE as follows:
These trainings will be conducted through face to face and online mode. The program will leverage the following approaches:
Besides, webinars on various subjects/ personalities of national and international importance are also organized which are telecast live on the official YouTube Channel of CBSE.
One DTH TV channel has been allotted to CBSE under PM eVIDYA for telecast of educational videos (24×7 on all 365 days). This will widen the reach of quality trainings to CBSE teachers and learners located in the remotest part of the country. These videos are also available on the official YouTube Channel of CBSE and can be accessed by teachers/schools located abroad. Check here.
The content of these programmes will mainly be based on presently 46 manuals developed by CBSE for Generic as well as Subject specific topics (List of Capacity Building Programmes offered by CBSE enclosed as Annexure A) to enhance the teaching skills, and familiarize teachers with the latest pedagogical approaches besides keeping them updated with latest changes in the field of education.
Prashikshan Triveni portal also has the facility for Resource Persons from across the country as well as overseas to register themselves as per their area of expertise and join the pool of experts, apply for payment through IPS and have access to training resource material. Read here.
