About CBSE

TheΒ Central Board of Secondary EducationΒ (CBSE) is a national level board of education in India for public and private schools, controlled and managed by theΒ Government of India. Established in 1929 by a resolution of the government, the Board was an experiment towards inter-state integration and cooperation in the sphere of secondary education. There are more than 27,000 schools in India and 240 schools in 28 foreign countries affiliated to the CBSE. All schools affiliated to CBSE follow theΒ NCERTΒ curriculum especially from class 9 to 12. The current Chairperson of CBSE is Rahul Singh,Β IAS.

The constitution of the Board was amended in 1952 to give its present name, the Central Board of Secondary Education. The Board was reconstituted on 1 July 1962 so as to make its services available to students and various educational institutions in the entire country.

The first education board to be set up in India was theΒ Uttar PradeshΒ Board of High School and Intermediate Education in 1921, which was under jurisdiction ofΒ Rajputana, Central India andΒ Gwalior. In 1929, the government of India set up a joint Board namedΒ Board of High School and Intermediate Education. This includedΒ Ajmer, Merwara, Central India, and Gwalior. Later it was confined toΒ Ajmer,Β BhopalΒ andΒ VindhyaΒ Pradesh. In 1952, it became the Central Board of Secondary Education.

About Heritage India Quiz

CBSE Heritage India Quiz is an annual activity. The inter-school quiz this year is focused on the theme of “The conservation and restoration of cultural heritage.” This theme emphasizes the importance of preserving India’s rich cultural heritage, which includes ancient sites, monuments, and traditional knowledge systems.

The quiz aims not only to educate students about India’s diverse cultural heritage but also to raise awareness about the need for conservation and restoration efforts. By encouraging maximum participation from schools across the country, the quiz seeks to sensitize students about the significance of preserving monuments and sites that are integral to India’s history and identity.

With reference to CBSE circular no. Acad-72/2024 dated 21.08.2024, it is to inform that the last date for registration of CBSE Heritage India Quiz 2024 has been extended up to 30th September, 2024.
