The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is a national-level board of education in India for public and private schools, controlled and managed by the Government of India. Established in 1929 by a resolution of the government, the Board was an experiment towards inter-state integration and cooperation in the sphere of secondary education. There are more than 27,000 schools in India and 240 schools in 28 foreign countries affiliated with the CBSE. All schools affiliated with CBSE follow the NCERT curriculum, especially from classes 9 to 12. The current Chairperson of CBSE is Nidhi Chibber, IAS.

The constitution of the Board was amended in 1952 to give its present name, the Central Board of Secondary Education. The Board was reconstituted on July 1, 1962, so as to make its services available to students and various educational institutions in the entire country.

This is in continuation of Circular No. CBSE/REGN/2023-24/2023 dated 12/09/2023 and extension circular no. CBSE/REGN-IX/XI/2023-24 dated 06.10.2023 regarding submission of Registration Data of Class IX/XI, 2023-24.

Considering various representations received from schools, the schedule for Submission of Registration Data of Class IX/XI, 2023-24 has been extended as follows:

All other instructions as given in Circular CBSE/REGN/2023-24/2023 dated 12/09/2023 will remain the same to follow.

According to The Times of India, “The Central Board of Secondary Education on Friday extended the CBSE Class 9, 11 exam 2024 registration last date. Students who will appear in the Class 9 and Class 11 board exams next year have been given more time to register. Those who have not yet registered for the annual examinations can apply through the official website of the board on their website till October 25, 2023, without a late fee. However, students will be able to register for the exams from October 26 to October 29, 2023, with a late fee.”
