Exemplar Class 10 Science Practice Questions [Chemistry; Chemical Reactions and Equations]: Prepare for Your Upcoming Board Exams!

In this article, we will be discussing how to prepare for the CBSE Class 10 Exams with some helpful resources included!

Since the CBSE Class 10 Exams are approaching, this is the perfect time to discuss the various preparation tips and tricks in order to score well with less stress and a well-planned study schedule.

The CBSE 10th exams 2024 will be conducted offline between February 15 and April 10, 2024 by CBSE. The Board also released the CBSE 10th practice questions and CBSE Class 10 Sample Papers 2023-24 on their website. The CBSE Syllabus 2024 was released on April 7, 2023.

As per the latest CBSE Class 10 Syllabus 2023-24, the board has allotted a total of 80 marks for theory exams and 20 marks for internal assessment. The theory paper will be of 80 marks, while the internal assessment or project/practical will be of 20 marks. It is necessary to obtain 30 per cent marks in both the board examination and internal assessment separately.

Every student has their own unique studying technique, so the easiest way to get started without stressing out is to figure out what works best for you and what fits the most in your schedule. The key is to stay consistent and dedicated, but also know beforehand what preparation path to follow.

Some students burn the midnight oil and do most of their studying at night. Some students want to spread their revisions and study sessions throughout the day, in order to have enough breaks in between.

With hit and trial, try different study routines, figure out what suits you, and then, religiously follow it till the days of your exams arrive.

Once you know for sure what routine and how many sessions of studying in a day suit you and your lifestyle, prepare a study schedule or a timetable to stick to every single day. Allocate enough time to various subjects and try to give yourself enough breaks in between to prevent burnout and fatigue.

It’s imperative to gather all the useful resources, like mock tests, help books, guides, and other important materials, so you don’t have to spend a lot of time searching for important things once you are prepared to study.

Include a habit of gathering sample papers and previous years’ question papers in your study routine to be thorough with your research and test your knowledge when you sit and study.

But remember, this step is only about organising these materials and not starting to study them. It’s important to follow everything step by step.

It’s easy to look at the syllabus and get tensed about the load in front of you. But this is not something we will be doing. Set small goals and targets for yourself to prepare yourself for the CBSE Class 10 Exams.

One day, you’ll be preparing for one subject, with a hint of another subject. The next day, you won’t focus on anything but maths problems. The next, only Hindi or Punjabi. These are just some examples of how you can take everything easy and still give enough time to every subject.

Doing everything like a baby, with small baby steps, will help you build a routine and not just force yourself to have a routine which tires you.

The human mind works in such a way that difficult concepts which are also hard to grasp can be easily understood with the help of colourful diagrams and flowcharts. Visuals help students and even adults to comprehend concepts in a better way if explained with colours and neatness.

If you find yourself in a fix, try drawing or charting out certain things in your notebook with colours and sketching. This can especially be helpful for concepts in science like chemical substances, carbon compounds, etc., which are usually a bit confusing to understand in the beginning.

Even HTML in computer applications can be practised with colours, even if you just have to write things in it. When you generally make colourful notes, you feel like studying and paying more attention to certain topics which usually might be a bit boring.

Not only when it comes to maths, but also when it comes to science or social studies, the key to grasping knowledge quickly is by practising what you’ve learnt. Practising theorems in maths or the various formulae in physics – everything requires equal time.

Improve your problem-solving skills by referring to previous years’ question papers and sample papers to make yourself feel as if you’re in an examination mock drill. Prepare yourself for every question and every possible obstacle, and you will be good to go!

The CBSE Class 10 Exams are usually not difficult but do require a lot of practice about the most basic concepts that you might tend to miss out on, but are very important and are not to be missed.

There are many books that CBSE recommends for preparation too. For science, we have a whole article about the Best Science Books for Class 10 CBSE Students: The Ultimate Guide! Read this detailed article and you will find the best books you should use to study for the CBSE Class 10 Exams.

Most of the students preparing for important exams tend to worry too much about the exam patterns and the aftermath of attempting exams (the results) that they forget to look after themselves.

If you’re a student who is reading this, remember to keep yourself hydrated and eat healthy along with light and easy-to-do exercises to keep you on your toes. Exercising a little bit daily never makes you tired, but always helps you prepare for exams better because your mind works better once the feel-good hormones are released in your body.

University College London says, “When you do any type of intense physical activity, it causes blood to flow to the brain.  This in turn fires up your neurones and promotes cell growth, particularly in the hippocampus.  This means that just 20 minutes of exercise before studying can improve your concentration and help you focus your learning.”

Look after yourself, not just your grades.

As Wikipedia explains, “A flashcard or flash card (also known as an index card) is a card bearing information on both sides, which is intended to be used as an aid in memorization. Each flashcard bears a question on one side and an answer on the other. Flashcards are often used to memorize vocabulary, historical dates, formulae or any subject matter that can be learned via a question-and-answer format. Flashcards can be virtual (part of a flashcard software), or physical.”

Using flashcards is an age-old technique used by students over the years to memorise important concepts. It can also be seen as a game that adds a fun element to your exam preparation.

Use them wisely and don’t get used to them, but let them add flavour to your study routine and you will be able to grasp knowledge quickly and better.

All in all, preparing for the CBSE Class 10 Exams should never be considered rocket science. Once the exams are over, you have plenty of things to look forward to, choosing your next school for the 11th and 12th grades, choosing the stream you want to study, and so much more.

If you give sufficient time to everything that requires your attention, you will be able to score really well and come out with flying colours.

All the best for your exams and we really hope you stay healthy and hydrated during this time!
